My boyfriend, being the supportive person he is, always reads my blog posts and gives me feedback on them. His ongoing piece of advice recently has been to write posts that are more personal.
He said that I should talk about things that I’ve been through and am going through currently. Open up and speak honestly and frankly about things most of us probably deal with from time to time (like feeling pressured by social norms, feeling afraid of change, worrying too much) and things we hope never to deal with (like loss, or failure, or feeling trapped in a job you don’t like).
So welcome to the new area of my blog where I’ll be giving more of an insight into challenges I’m dealing with in my life. Challenges that are confusing and don’t have simple solutions and have me worrying and scratching my head over for days, months, years. Maybe they’ll be less light and positive but the hope is that they’ll be more real and honest.
I find that there’s something very comforting in reading about someone’s experiences of going through something that you’re going through yourself. It feels like you’re not alone in it, like you’re not the only person in the world who is afraid of change or loss or the uncertainties of the future.
So I’ll share the things I’m going through in the hope that it will help others who may be going through something similar. I’ll share what I’m worrying about, how I’m tackling it, the self-help books I’m reading, the advice I’ve been given.
I’ll label these posts with ‘Tiger-Lily’ at the start and I’ll put them in the ‘General’ tab under ‘Personal Posts’ in the menu so you’ll know where to find them.
